International student admission

Every year, École Centrale de Lyon reserves some 180 places for welcoming the best students from foreign universities with which the institute has signed a double degree accreditation agreement.

The student spends at least two years at their home university before arriving at Centrale Lyon to study the core subjects of the first two years of the engineering programme at Centrale Lyon.

The student then returns to their host university to complete their course and receive their degree. This will automatically trigger awarding of Centrale Lyon’s degree.

To participate in this highly demanding programme, students must be selected by their home university and demonstrate a good level of French.

On an exceptional basis and depending on the student’s level, the student may be admitted to the second and third years of Centrale Lyon’s engineering programme. This will also require the home university’s prior approval. The conditions are set out in the agreement signed between the two institutions.

Applications

Applications are generally open until April for the academic year starting in September. Applicants must fill in the online form found on the ‘Mobility-Online’ website and follow the instructions to complete their application. All applications are then examined by the University Exchanges Commission (CEU) which meets around mid-May.
