Sport on campus

On-campus sports activities are an essential part of a student engineer's training. With a wide choice of disciplines, modern facilities and a dynamic Sports Office, the campus offers an environment conducive to sports activities, which are a compulsory part of the curriculum.

Facilities available on campus

The Centrale Lyon campus offers modern sports facilities accessible to all students:

  • Gymnasium: Equipped with a climbing wall and weight room.
  • Tennis courts: Three outdoor courts.
  • Stadium: Multi-purpose pitch.
  • Padel courts: Three outdoor courts.
  • Weight training areas: indoor and outdoor

These facilities facilitate the practice of the sports taught and the activities offered by the School's sports clubs.

Sport and community life

Students can also take part in leisure and recreational sports through activities organized by student associations:

  • The Challenge
  • The Raid
  • The Mountain Club
  • The Piston Ski Club

The Bureau des Sports (BDS) plays a central role in Centrale Lyon's associative life. Thanks to a dynamic team of 11 members, it enables more than 1,100 members to develop through a variety of sporting activities, whether competitive or leisure. It organizes various sporting events, such as the residence inter-storey tournament or the BDS weekend.

Integrating sport into the curriculum

Sports activities are compulsory for Centrale Lyon student-engineers, constituting a teaching unit (UE Pro). Three profiles are offered:

  • Physical education and sports: Cycles of 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Monovalent : Specialization in a sport of choice.
  • Competition : Compulsory university training and competitions.

Each student can select his or her sports at the beginning of the year from nearly 20 disciplines individual or collective, offering options to suit all tastes.
