The Transition Lab is an ecosystem where academic knowledge, corporate strategy, public policy and public debate come together, feed off each other and converge to accelerate ecological, economic, social and technological transitions.
Through in-depth cross-disciplinary dialogue with internal and external stakeholders, the Transition Lab initiates, supports and implements meaningful and solution-oriented research and innovation, training and scientific mediation activities.
By developing and disseminating scientific knowledge and technological, human, organisational and social innovations, the Transition Lab paves the way for new paradigms and encourages experimentation with new ways of doing things.

Transition Lab objectives
- Strengthen transdisciplinarity and hybridization between research and training on major transitions
- Exchange expertise and best practices and strengthen transdisciplinarity with academic partners
- Accompany and accelerate systemic transformations of socio-economic players through technology transfer on SD&RS issues
- Enlighten public policies and corporate strategies, by promoting transdisciplinary approaches
- Bringing science closer to citizens by boosting the general public's confidence in scientific methods and data, and stimulating critical thinking through the scientific process.
Transition Lab actions
- Create new training courses on major transitions: transdisciplinary initial and continuing education with the Collège des Hautes Études Lyon-Sciences, multidisciplinary continuing education on decarbonation, the circular economy and responsible digital with the Collège d'ingénierie Lyon-Saint-Étienne
- Develop and share with academic partners teaching tools on SD&RS and train teachers and teacher-researchers : educational and training seminars with the Groupe des Écoles Centrale and the two Colleges
- Support student involvement and initiatives in SD&RS: financial support for student projects, support for the training of association leaders
.
- Encouraging the integration of SD&RS issues into research and innovation strategy and activities: mapping research projects, publications and scientific expertise, sharing a technology watch, seeking funding for SD&RS research projects, organizing scientific cafés and seminars on SD&RS
- Accompanying socio-economic players in addressing transitions: mapping partners on these topics, developing partnerships, particularly "premium" partnerships on DD&RS, supporting responsible innovation around the right-tech concept.
- Create an alumni community around DD&RS: map alumni working on DD&RS, organize breakfasts around DD&RS, lead an almuni group, with joint actions with the Groupe des Écoles Centrale
- Create a recognized ecosystem on major transitions with the establishment of a Think&Do Tank: summer schools, seminars on a multi- and trans-disciplinary DD&RS topic with the two Colleges and corporate and community partners, publication of white books
- Getting involved in local, national and international networks on DD&RS : soliciting in-house experts to get involved in research networks and be a driving force behind proposals
- Disseminating the results of research and innovation to the general public: launch of Responsible Engineering Days with the Lyon-Saint-Étienne College of Engineering.
