Philippe Kapsa graduated in Engineering from École Centrale
de Lyon in 1976 and obtained a PhD in Sciences and Tribology
in 1982. He is now Senior Researcher at the French CNRS.
He headed the Tribology and System Dynamics Laboratory
(LTDS) from 1994 to 2007 and developed research in tribology
at École Centrale de Lyon and Ecole nationale d’ingénieurs de
Saint Etienne (ENISE). He now heads LTDS’ Tribology, Materials,
Surfaces research group. He is co-director of the Engineering and
Science Lyon-Tohoku Laboratory (ELyT Lab) in collaboration with
Tohoku University and INSA de Lyon. He is also co-director of the
Labex Manutech SISE, concerning sciences and engineering in
surfaces and interfaces on the site of Lyon – Saint-Etienne. Active
in the fields of tribology, materials and mechanics, he is interested
in fundamental and applied aspects. He teaches tribology,
transmitting its various aspects to students and engineers.
