Gregory Vial is an alumnus of École normale supérieure de Cachan and holds a PhD from the University of Rennes-I. He taught for ten years at École normale supérieure de Rennes. He joined École Centrale de Lyon in 2011, as Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He is a specialist of Applied Mathematics and carries out research on analysis and scientific computing for partial differential equations related to electromagnetism or mechanics. He is Head of the research group in applied mathematics (part of Institut Camille Jordan) at École Centrale de Lyon since 2016. Since 2019, he has also been Director of Studies at École Centrale de Lyon.
