Fabio Pavanello

Fabio Pavanello is a CNRS researcher at INL, where he leads the "Nanophotonic Systems" activity. He has more than 10 years of experience in optoelectronics and integrated photonics for communications and spectroscopy. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and his Ph.D. from the University of Lille (IEMN/CNRS - France). Prior to joining CNRS in 2019, he held a first research position at the University of Colorado Boulder (DARPA project POEM) where he contributed to the demonstration of the first RISC-V processor capable of communicating with a memory chip optically. Then, he held a second research position at UGent/IMEC (H2020 project MIRPHAB) where he developed advanced mid-IR photonic spectrometers. He has co-authored more than 70 journal and conference papers, 1 book chapter and 2 patents. His research interests are in hardware security and neuromorphic computing using CMOS-compatible integrated photonics.
