Presentation

Jean-Jacques Sinou holds a diploma in engineering from ENSTA Bretagne. Holder of a doctorate in mechanics from the École Centrale de Lyon in 2002, he currently holds a position as Professeur des Universités at the École Centrale de Lyon. He was appointed Member of the Institut Universitaire de France in 2015 and currently holds the status of Honorary Member IUF. He is editor-in-chief of the international journal "Applied Sciences - Mechanical Engineering" and associate editor for "The American Society of Mechanical Engineers - Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power ".

Research projects

His research focuses on theoretical, experimental and numerical contributions in the field of mechanical systems and structural dynamics. He is a recognized specialist in the field of nonlinear dynamics, friction-induced vibration and noise, dynamics of complex and rotating systems, and vibration monitoring by nonlinear analysis. He has authored or co-authored around 150 publications in international journals.

  • Responsible for the research group "Nonlinear Dynamics, Uncertainties and Systems with Interfaces - DISI" at LTDS UMR 5513 and research activities around the "Friction-Induced Vibration and noisE at Ecole Centrale de Lyon - FIVE@ECL" platform. He is also responsible for the "nonlinear dynamics, damping and uncertainties" research theme within the PSA Vibro-Acoustic-Tribology@Lyon OpenLab.

Training activities

He teaches continuum mechanics, vibration, dynamics of complex structures and stability of mechanical systems at Ecole Centrale de Lyon.

He is a referent for Ecole Centrale de Lyon at the training level of the common course and shared modules of the Collège des Hautes Etudes Lyon Sciences CHEL[s].
