Welcome to France and École Centrale de Lyon!
Almost 40% of the student body in all programmes (engineering degree, master’s, doctorate) are from abroad.
While you undertake a portion of your studies in France, you will be among many other students who come every year to our institute from all over the world, just as all our engineering students spend some time abroad to study or work. From these exchanges, you will gain experiences that are both unforgettable and indispensable to your future career.
First and foremost, École Centrale de Lyon educates general engineers through a multidisciplinary curriculum known for its scientific and technical excellence, supplemented by significant erudition in humanities and social science. Your studies here will be boosted by the dynamism of internationally eminent research laboratories and the quality of the partnerships weaved by the institute with the world of business.
As an international student, you are coming to the institute to:
- study in the general engineer programme as part of a double degree or to receive ECTS credits during an exchange for one semester or one year,
- study for a master’s degree, choosing from the 17 degrees available, which include 3 international masters taught in English,
- study for a doctorate or carry out a research project.
Centrale Lyon has been awarded the level 2 "Welcome to France" label
Centrale Lyon has been awarded the level 2 "Welcome to France" attesting to the quality of its welcome for international students.
This label is awarded by Campus France for a period of four years. It distinguishes an institution for the quality and accessibility of information, reception facilities, the training offer, the support of its teachers, accommodation, the quality of life on campus and the post-graduate follow-up of international students.
Young Ambassadors
As a student at École Centrale de Lyon, you can also take advantage of an original hosting programme that melds the Rhône-Alpes business and cultural life: the Young Ambassadors.
This programme facilitates the forming of valuable relationships between international students and the region’s businesses and institutions. It thus contributes to the international promotion of Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Each selected student is paired with a member of a partnering company who will personally introduce the student to the economic, institutional and cultural fabric of the region.
Since the founding of this programme in 1999, this active network now counts 1,650 Young Ambassadors from 86 countries.
