Expl'AURA: a program to support young researchers in transforming their research results into innovative products and services
The young researchers selected to take part in the bootcamp benefited from three days of workshops to develop their projects with the help of experts: introduction to entrepreneurship and support in developing their projects (business model, intellectual property, pitch, etc.).
At the end of the workshops, the participants gathered for a full day, on November 18, at the Hôtel Région, to participate in the final jury and present their respective projects.).

The Expl'AURA bootcamp is a program organized by the three Pôles Universitaires d'Innovation (PUI) of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region:
- IMPULSE, for the Lyon Saint-Étienne site
- FITInnovE, for the Grenoble site
- CAP I-TERR, for the Clermont-Auvergne site

Kineo: motion capture within everyone's reach
How can immersive technologies (virtual reality) contribute to the preservation of intangible heritage? This is the question that interests Charles Javerliat as part of the thesis he is carrying out at LIRIS. His field of study: the Château de Guédelon where, every day, some forty craftsmen take up the challenge of building a fortified castle using medieval techniques. Thanks to campaigns to capture and restore images, sounds, smells and gestures on the building site, Charles Javerliat and the LIRIS team were able to capture the environment of the period and recreate it virtually.
The result is Kineo, a software package that enables markerless motion capture with any camera(smartphone, webcam, gopro...), while guaranteeing fast, accurate, inexpensive and nomadic capture and reconstruction. Beyond the use case of Guédelon, whose vocation was the preservation of intangible heritage, this technology is proving particularly relevant for the cultural industries (3D animation of characters, for example) but also in a broader industrial context: training in gestures, ergonomic analysis of workstations, etc.

This bootcamp enabled me to get the word out about the project and meet people who can help me develop Kineo. It's not impossible that I'll decide to found a start-up during the premature phase, depending on how the project develops.

Automated analysis of table tennis matches
What if science had a hand in France's recent surges in table tennis? In the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics, Aymeric Erades' thesis work involved exploring a new performance axis for very high-level players. His objective: to develop a match visualization tool combining video and AI, in order to improve their tactical analysis.
Tested during the French team's preparation phase and used during the 2024 Summer Olympics, the system developed automates and therefore accelerates the analysis of shots made during matches: type of shot, effect given to the ball, rebound zones, player position... It thus enables players and their coaches to highlight the most effective shot sequences and adapt their game tactics.
In this vein, Aymeric Erades is working on the development of a platform open to professional and amateur players alike. This service should enable anyone to upload a match video in order to obtain a complete tactical analysis and recommendations with the aim of improving their performance.

My plans are to launch a start-up to develop this project, which links sport and research. The fact that I can stay close to table tennis, which is a passion of mine, and make a direct contribution to it, is a great motivation.
