Presentation

Normalien from the École normale supérieure de Cachan (now ENS Paris-Saclay), agrégé in civil engineering, Éric Vincens obtained the doctorate in civil engineering from the École Centrale de Lyon in 1999. A teacher-researcher at Centrale Lyon since 2004, he became Professeur des Universités in 2017 at Centrale Lyon. Since 2004 he has beenco-director of the Transition Ecologique & Territoires option in the final year of engineering training, and since 2023 he has been Director of the Mécanique des Solides - Génie Mécanique - Génie Civil department.

Research projects

Éric Vincens is developing research into the understanding and modeling of the behavior of soils and geotechnical structures using both simplified and sophisticated adaptive approaches. In particular, he is interested in the perenniality of large strategic structures such as dams, river dikes or masonry bridges. Lately, he has been developing research around constructive solutions of vernacular origin, with very low environmental impact: raw earth and dry stone, in order to recreate lost scientific knowledge and build non-existent regulations.

Training activities

  • Soil mechanics & geotechnics Construction materials
  • Elastoplasticity
