Presentation

An alumnus of the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, PhD from the University of Rennes I, Grégory Vial taught for ten years at the École Normale Supérieure de Rennes as agrégé préparateur. He joined École Centrale de Lyon in 2011, where he is professor of mathematics within the department of mathematics and computer science. His area of specialization concerns applied mathematics. Since September 2019, he has been director of training at Centrale Lyon.

Research projects

  • Singular perturbations of elliptic problems (asymptotic analysis, impedance conditions, thin plates, non-regular domains),
  • Accounting for mirco-defects in structural mechanics (cracking, Coupling asymptotic analysis / strong discontinuity method, numerical calculation of infinite-domain profiles),
  • Scientific calculation (high-order finite element methods, curved meshes, contributions to the Mélina calculation library, shape optimization, inverse problems)

Training activities

Interventions in various engineering curricula:

  • Analysis
  • Numerical methods
  • Initiation to mathematical modeling
  • Deterministic and stochastic models for decision support
