Presentation

Doctor of Physics and graduate of the Université d'Orléans in 2008, José Penuelas completed a thesis on magnetic nanoparticles. Subsequently, he completed a post-doctorate in the Chemistry-Physics Department at the Technical University of Munich. In 2009, he joined the École Centrale de Lyon as maître de conférences. In 2018, he obtained his habilitation à diriger des recherches, with a mémoire devoted to heterogeneous nanostructures.

His research, which is experimental in nature, exploits molecular jet epitaxy as well as synchrotron radiation techniques to study the organization and properties of matter. He is mainly interested in nanostructures and their interactions with light, particularly in fields such as solar fuels, such as green hydrogen, and quantum technologies.
