Presentation

Physico-chemical engineer and holder of a PhD from the University of Paris VI, Frédéric Dubreuil spent 2 years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Potsdam (Germany). He was then maitre de conférence at Université Grenoble Alpes from 2004 to 2020, at CERMAV, where he worked on the ccharacterization of polysaccharides and their interactions by near-field microscopy. In 2016, he obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches. He then joined the École Centrale de Lyon and the Laboratory of Tribology and System Dynamics (LTDS).

Research projects

His research focuses on the use of near-field microscopy techniques for the characterization of tribological phenomena: the aim is to characterize the adhesion, friction and wear properties of chemically controlled surfaces at the nanometric scale, and to relate them to the structure, composition or mechanical properties of materials.

Training activities

He takes part in numerous multidisciplinary training courses: WEEX (week-long multidisciplinary projects), student projects (PAr, PE) Student training courses in microscopy techniques.
