Presentation

With a PhD in materials science (1999) from the University of Toulouse (France), Fabrice Dassenoy spent three years (2000-2002) at the Max-Planck Institute in Berlin (Germany) - Department of Surface Physics - before joining the École Centrale de Lyon first as Senior Lecturer (2002-2011) and then as Professor (2012).

Expert in nanomaterials/nanolubricants, his research conducted within the Laboratoire de Tribologie et Dynamique des Systèmes (LTDS) focuses on studying the tribological properties of nanoparticles used as lubricant additives, with a particular interest in understanding the lubrication mechanisms of these nanomaterials and optimizing their lubricating properties, especially for automotive applications. He has published over 60 papers and 7 patents in this field and received the Taiho Encouraging Award for Young Tribologists in 2009. He teaches materials science at the École Centrale de Lyon, with a particular focus on characterization techniques. He has been director of theMaterials and Surface department at École Centrale de Lyon since 2018.
