An alumnus of the École normale supérieure de Cachan (obtaining the agrégation in 1991),PhD in mechanics (1996) in the field of design, Damien Constant holds a position as associate professor in the Department of Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering (MSGMGC). Involved in the running of the École, he played an active part in setting up the semesterization of the engineering curriculum, headed the mechanical engineering teaching unit for two years, before implementing and coordinating the work-study engineer specializing in energy, which welcomed its first class in September 2012. He is currently adjoint to the training department, in charge of the energy specialty engineer curriculum, and referent for the double degree with Strate-Lyon École de Design. An adept of pedagogical innovation, he has reformed several courses, and introduced teaching themes around Creativity Design and eco-design.

Training activities

  • Common core of the general engineering curriculum: UE GM and MSS, with particular emphasis on teaching design using digital means (CAD under PTC Creo).
  • Participation in Weex weeks (Innovation, Wind Energy).
  • Elective general engineering curriculum: Aeronautics option (sizing a business jet in collaboration with Dassault Aviation) and RID trades (Creativity and Design)
  • Energy engineering curriculum: General Mechanics, Design Office, tutoring of work-study students.
