Benoît Pier

Research DirectorMFAE/LMFA

Benoît Pier is a CNRS Researcher at Laboratoire de mécanique des fluides et d’acoustique (LMFA). His research in fluid dynamics focuses on instabilities and transition in open flows, and a recurring theme is to investigate the effects of rotation and/or curvature on the flow behaviour. His main interests lie in rather fundamental problems arising from a variety of practical contexts, such as boundary layers in the aeronautics industry, blood flow through arteries, or particular flow dynamics when drilling for oil. He has on-going research projects with Cambridge University (UK) and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad (India). He is also involved in the area of scientific and technical information, and an advocate of open science and free software.
