On Monday, October 6, 2025, Centrale Lyon formalized a major partnership with the City of Lyon and the Auditorium-Orchestre National de Lyon (AONL) at a private concert on the Lyon-Écully campus. This collaboration is the result of a shared passion: music, the core business of the AONL, whose rich repertoire is an opportunity for the general public, and Centrale Lyon, which pursues a strong policy of cultural action to promote access to culture, amateur practices, and the dissemination and mediation of knowledge.

An alliance between science and music

This new partnership is built around various axes that will be activated and explored according to the schedules and opportunities of the establishment and the Auditorium - Orchestre national de Lyon.

  1. Cultural actions for Centrale Lyon students and staff: concerts on campus, facilitated access to AONL concerts and events, meetings with artists, workshops...
  2. Science and society actions for Auditorium staff: laboratory visits, lectures...
  3. Support for facility training: study projects, courses on AONL premises...
  4. Research cooperation: research contracts, thesis related to acoustics...
  5. Hosting events at AONL: graduation ceremony, Engineering Day...

An "hors les murs" concert to mark the launch

To inaugurate this partnership, in the presence of Pascal Ray, Director of Centrale Lyon and Nicolas Droin, Director of the AONL,the Auditorium offered students a concert "hors les murs" : String quartet with Florent Souvignet-Kowalski (violin), Aurianne Philippe (violin), Marc-Antoine Bier (viola), Nicolas Hartmann (cello) with a program featuring Mozart and Schubert.

A very fine performance under the sign of cultural openness and in perfect keeping with the Centralienne community's attraction to music: brass band, student and staff orchestras and choirs, and musicals.
