In February 2025, Solar Orbiter will enter a new phase of its mission, after a maneuver around Venus that will enable it to observe the Sun's poles and the solar wind at high latitudes, also marking the fifth anniversary of its launch. To mark the occasion, a workshop in Lyon will bring together members of the scientific and technical groups involved in the probe's in situ observations, to take stock of past advances and future prospects.
Program
- Monday 12: Instrumental team meetings around technical and operational issues;
- Tuesday 13 to Friday 16: Scientific discussion sessions
- Kinetic physics, turbulence, waves and reconnection;
- Eruptive events and large-scale structure;
- Energetic particles, shocks and solar activity;
- SW origins and connection science;
- Multi-mission cross-science;
- First look at spring 2025 perihelion data; etc.
- Tuesday 13: Q&A sessions with instrument team members present.
