Living spaces

Faculty Club

The Faculty Club is a space for relaxation and conviviality accessible to students. It offers a library, a pool table, relaxation areas and a dedicated gaming zone, providing a setting conducive to relaxation and exchanges.

Students' hostel

The Foyer des Élèves is the heart of student life, with ping-pong tables, table soccer, and an associative bar. The stage with sound system and professional lighting can also be used to organize parties.

The offices

Offices and meeting rooms are functional spaces equipped with ergonomic tables, chairs, and video conferencing equipment to facilitate exchanges, club meetings and collaborative work sessions.

The library

With its academic resources, comfortable reading spaces, and work areas equipped with computer workstations, the library is a calm and inspiring place for study and research conducive to concentration.

The Cooking Lab

The Cooking Lab, inaugurated in October 2021, is a 110 m² kitchen-school dedicated to training, experimentation and culinary innovation. Located on campus, it is the result of a collaboration between Centrale Lyon, Institut Lyfe and the Crous de Lyon.

  • Professional training: Managed by the Lyfe Institute, the venue hosts training for hospitality professionals.
  • Culinary creativity: The Crous de Lyon trains its teams here and organizes student culinary competitions.
  • Culinary workshops: Institut Lyfe chefs share their expertise with students, promoting the discovery of French cuisine.
  • Culinary challenges: Teams from the three partners regularly collaborate on creative and innovative projects.

This laboratory is entirely bespoke and designed for hands-on learning, with state-of-the-art equipment.

Innovation Spaces

To remain internationally competitive in science, innovation and entrepreneurship, Centrale Lyon provides innovation spaces that encourage collaborative work and cultural and disciplinary transversalities:

The SkyLab

Centrale Lyon's Skylab is a 1,200 m² space, connected to the Michel Serres Library, designed to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship and collaboration. It enhances the value of research projects and offers a place of innovation for companies and academic partners.

 

  • Creativity space (100 seats): modular, suitable for meetings and events for small groups (6 to 12 people).
  • Immersive room (48 seats): equipped with 8 video projectors, microphones and cameras for remote interactions.
  • Box and training room: 4 6-seat cubicles and a 24-seat room with interactive equipment.

The entrepreneurial space is a place reserved for students on the entrepreneurial engineering course, offering them all the amenities they need to develop their projects. Fitted out with individual offices and coworking spaces, this area features workstations equipped with large screens to facilitate collaborative work and design. Secure cupboards enable students to store their documents and materials safely.

This environment fosters creativity, exchange and teamwork, providing future entrepreneurs with a framework conducive to the development of their ideas and the creation of innovative businesses.
 

The École showroom showcases student projects, research initiatives and partnerships with companies. It allows visitors to discover innovative creations resulting from collaborations with external partners.

The adjoining showroom regularly features exhibitions accessible to students and staff, offering a space for discovery and sharing around a variety of themes. These spaces encourage exchanges and enrich campus life by highlighting creativity and innovation.

The FabLab

The Centrale Lyon FabLab is dedicated to creativity and innovation, offering rapid prototyping tools to validate concepts before industrial production. Open to all students and staff, it supports educational, research and personal projects.

  • 3D area : 4 FDM 3D printers, 1 SLA printer.
  • 2D area : 2 laser cutters, vinyl cutter (coming soon).
  • Sewing and embroidery area : digital embroidery machine, sewing machine.
  • Electronics area : soldering irons, components, CNC coming soon.

Dedicated to the fabrication and design of wood and metal projects, the MakerLab is equipped with specific tools such as a CNC milling machine, CNC plasma cutter, as well as professional saws and drills, enabling students to work independently and safely.

  • Accessibility : this space is open to all levels to learn how to use professional equipment.
  • Prototyping : students can design prototypes, practice manufacturing techniques and advance their projects in a supervised way.

The MakerLab is a suitable place to develop practical skills in a functional setting.
