Objectives
The Collège des Hautes Études Lyon Sciences opens its first Inter-institutional degree in Major Transitions
: measuring and understanding in order to act."
This diploma, accessible from a BAC+3, aims to address in a transdisciplinary and complementary way the issues linked to the major transitions generated by climate change and to meet future challenges. Lasting one year, this training program is structured around three axes:

Three areas of development
Measuring and evaluating impacts
From September to mid-November
Students take part in weeks of discovery within each establishment. The different impacts will be addressed and put into perspective according to teaching specialties.

Understanding major transitions
From mid-November to the end of March
Students explore each transition through a global approach: historical review, current analysis, thematic focus integrating societal, decision-making and technical dimensions, as well as possible futures.

Location : following discovery weeks in each establishment, the training will take place on the premises of ENS Lyon from mid-November to the end of March.
Acting for change
Mid-November to end of March
- Mid-November to end of November: case studies
- Early December to end of March: project with an external partner
Internship
From early April to early September
- 12-week minimum internship in France or abroad
- Soutenances: late August / early September
Three educational objectives
At the end of the training program, students acquire three key skills required for the successful completion of their assignments and professional projects.
- Knowing how to handle multidisciplinarity
Understanding the basic concepts and vocabulary specific to each discipline, putting them into dialogue with each other and becoming aware of the complexity of the issues.
- Develop a transdisciplinary systems vision
Analyze major transitions in their entirety and develop in-depth expertise and a critical eye on complex, cross-disciplinary issues.
- Mastering the rules of change management
Fostering collective intelligence, driving innovation, piloting and supporting teams faced with the challenges of major transitions.
Admission requirements and application
Access requirements
Recruitment is open to students from bac+3, bac+4 and bac+5 level with no specific disciplinary prerequisites.
The training is defined as complementary training to an acquired disciplinary curriculum or one in the process of being acquired. It is accessible as a gap year in a diploma.
Application procedures
Recruitment is by application and interview, with particular attention paid to the quality of the student's background, motivation and personal and professional project.

* A CHELS student is considered to be any student who was regularly enrolled in a CHELS establishment in the year they applied to enroll in the course.
** A scholarship holder is any student who was a CROUS scholarship holder the year before enrolling in the course. The DIE does not give access to the CROUS scholarship.
