Doctoral Schools

The doctoral schools organise the training of doctoral candidates and prepare them for their professional lives. The schools bring to the doctoral students a multidisciplinary culture within a coherent scientific project. They compete at the international level for offers of a doctoral education from establishments as well as the structuring of sites.

They coordinate the recruitment of new doctoral students, the renewing of admissions and the authorizations of the defence of theses.

École Doctorale Électronique, Électrotechnique et Automatique EEA - ED 160 (Electrical, Electronics and Automation Doctoral School).

EEA brings together a set of laboratories and researchers of Lyon in the domain of Electrical, Electronics, Automation and Signal Treatment in Lyon. It is comprised of 8 laboratories or laboratory groups. The School consists of around 80 researchers authorised to lead research.

École Doctorale Matériaux de Lyon EDML - ED 34 (Materials Doctoral School of Lyon)

EDML relies on the scientific competencies of 11 Joint Research Units (“Unités Mixtes de Recherche” - UMR) that develop diverse activities, touching on the elaboration as well as the characterization of materials (study of the microstructure and properties of materials) or the modelling of their behaviour.

The materials studied consist of structural materials (metals and alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites), functional materials (ex: for electrical or for optoelectronics), and synthetic or natural materials (notably materials studied in geology or biology).
