Michel Roger

Professor of aeroacoustics (CNU 60)MFAE/LMFA

Michel Roger is a graduate of École Centrale de Lyon and holds a
PhD in Engineering Sciences, specialty Acoustics. He is a member
of the French Acoustical Society (SFA) and the American Institute
of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA). He is Professor at L’École
Centrale de Lyon where he developed a masters degree course in
General Aeroacoustics. This course is also taught in other places
in France and Europe as a continuing education topic. It is closely
related to the research Michel Roger develops within the Fluid
Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory (LMFA) of L’École Centrale
de Lyon, a French CNRS joint Research Unit (no. 5509) on the
aerodynamic noise from lifting surfaces and turbomachines. The
research is dedicated to the physical understanding and the control
of the sound generating mechanisms in flows, for applications in
aircraft noise and low-speed fan noise. This includes the design
of laboratory experiments and the development of applied mathematics
methods for analytical modelling.
