Manuel Collet

CNRS Research DirectorMSGMGC/LTDS

Holding a PhD in Acoustics from École Centrale de Lyon, Manuel
Collet is Senior Researcher at the French CNRS since 1998. His
main research interests concern smart structures, active control of
vibroacoustic systems, developments of MEMS for structural active
control and smart materials or metamaterials for structural dynamics
and acoustics. From 1998 to 2013, Manuel Collet was affiliated with
the Institut Franche-Comté Électronique Mécanique Thermique et
Optique – Sciences et Technologies (FEMTO-ST) in its Department
of Applied Mechanics. He was President of its Scientific Board from
2005 to 2010 and Assistant Director of the Department of Applied
Mechanics in charge of scientific management from 2008 to 2013.
After spending a year at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a
visiting researcher in 2006-2007, Manuel Collet created and chaired a
new research program related to hybrid vibroacoustic interface control
by metacomposite optimisation. Recently assigned to the Tribology
and System Dynamics Laboratory (LTDS) at École Centrale de Lyon,
he is developing a federative research program about integrated
metacomposites and their associated technological developments. He
is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ (ASME)
Adaptive Structures & Material Systems Technical Committee.
