Liang Shao

CNRS Research DirectorMFAE/LMFA

With a PhD in Fluid Mechanics, Liang Shao is Senior Researcher
at the French CNRS in the field of turbulence. He carries out his
research within the Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics Laboratory
(LMFA) at École Centrale de Lyon. His research mainly focuses
on the understanding and modelling of the interaction between
different turbulent scales. He is author of an innovative concept
for the numerical simulation of turbulence - ReDLES (Reynolds
Decomposition Large Eddy Simulation). Since the mid-1990s,
he is a driving force for many successful collaborations between
the Groupe des Écoles Centrales (GEC) and Chinese universities.
In particular, his contributions to the Sino-French international
laboratory on mechanics, materials, information control and
science (LIA2MCIS) are of paramount importance. Furthermore,
based on the richness of cultural diversity and to enrich rationality,
as an author and organiser, he is involved in various international
meetings in humanities and social sciences.
