Education > Engineering program
The Industrial Study Project is conducted by a group of 2nd year Centrale Lyon students, on a topic defined and supervised by a corporation.
The Project runs from December to May, and is carried out by a group of about 6 students in what is called a project team.
The students are not full-time in the company, but have a time-budget of about one half-day per week to devote to the study.
Topics may be of all sorts: technical, industrial, market, technology watch - the one condition is that they have to be feasible for the team in the situation it is in.
The students have support from a School monitor, from the School's entire scientific potential, both technical and industrial, and from its computer resources and Internet access.
The aim of the operation is to put the students in a situation as close as possible to actually performing a contractual project in professional life - and the team has a real service obligation to the contracting company, in a spirit of respect for quality and deadlines. A grade is given to assess the proper performance of the study in these respects. The company plays a major role in this assessment.
The service is free of charge to the company, which in exchange takes on the following obligations:
to set a feasible topic;
to appoint a corporation project tutor, who will be Centrale Lyon's one contact person;
to ensure project monitoring by 2 or 3 reviews over the course of the exercise;
to cover the study's travel costs and host the group on company premises for a final presentation.
