November 28, 2003, Centrale Lyon inaugurated a new HP AlphaServer 1280 GS multi-processor calculation server to meet pressing laboratory needs in engineering, IT and applied math  science calculation and modeling.

 November 27, 2003 : Information and communication technology for teaching purposes in Centrale Lyon
Centrale Lyon may not go in for distance learning or e-learning, but is most certainly deeply involved in learning and teaching via state-of-the-art technology. Interaction is a keystone in training young engineers by means of innovatory teaching tools.

 Sept. 2003 : Centrale Lyon and T.U. Darmstadt celebrate 35 years' partnership: a historic achievement in Franco-German relations
In 1968, the first official Franco-German partnership agreement between two universities was signed, just five years after the historic reconciliation ratified by Chancellor Adenauer and President De Gaulle. It was on the 12th of December, to be precise, that, in the presence of Ambassador Von Braun, here in Ecully, Centrale Lyon and the Technische Universität Darmstadt pioneered this kind of international student exchange.

 Sept. 2003 : Centrale citizenship!
Corporations are nowadays concerned to make sure that their economic performance is socially responsible. Centrale Lyon understands this, and seeks to make sure that its graduates do too. With this aim in mind, we have joined a corporate club committed to social responsibility. IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité helps make staff and students aware of corporate social issues.

 May 3, 2003 : UTAC SIA Challenge safety prize - we won! The Piston Sport Auto stable - comprising Centrale Lyon, the Belfort Montbéliard Technological University and the Lyon-Vaise  Compagnons du devoir, ran three cars at Le Mans and won the prestigious UTAC SIA (Société des Ingénieurs de l'Automobile) Challenge safety prize.

 March 3, 2003 : Women mean business: a day of exchanges in Centrale Lyon  
There are more than 623,000  women CEOs in France, mainly in the service sector. In 2000, one third of new business creations/buy-outs were by women. And yet 45% of young female graduates say they are not at all interested in entrepreneurship...

 Feb. 20, 2003 : 4,000 students are expected for the 8-9 March CHALLENGE: France's biggest multisport competition for engineering Grandes Ecoles.
A team of Centrale Lyon students has been organizing CHALLENGE since 1982, and it has now become a date no athletic engineering student - male or female - can ignore. On 8 and 9 March, there will be some 4,000 of them, from all over France, measuring up to one another here in Lyon in a score of different sports competitions.

 Jan. 29, 2003 : DNA chip manufacturing: a European first, in Centrale Lyon
The LEOM, a joint CNRS (National Scientific Research Center) / Centrale Lyon research unit, is the first European laboratory to succeed in producing DNA chips by in situ chemical synthesis using microprojection. This technology now provides great flexibility in bio-applications.
