CENTRALE LYON is proud to train highly-skilled general engineers, with the open minds and code of ethics they need to invent solutions that meet the needs of 21st century society.
Our engineering students undergo three years of high-quality scientific and technical training, as well as receiving in-depth human and social sciences education, undertaking pratical project experience, learning two or even three languages and gaining first-hand busines and international experience.
This gives them the opportunity to develop their managerial and leadership skills.
During their third year, students have the option to follow an additional course to obtain a research masters (type M2).
Other masters are available, subject to agreements with Lyon's other higher education institutions.
A PhD course involves carrying out innovative research, under the guidance of a supervisor. After three years' study, the student should become an international
expert in a particular scientific field. The PhD course concludes with a written thesis and oral examination.

INTERNATIONAL MASTER SURFACE AND FRICTION ENGINEERING
This Master aims to meet the immediate needs of industry in a context of international competition through a program which encourage the applicants to create innovative solutions and to get the entrepreneurial spirit.
The Master Surface and Friction Engineering provides access to key sectors of industry, particularly transport (aerospace, automotive, ...), construction, energy, and the service activities (audit, consulting, ...) to perform functions in research and development, design, logistics, quality or production. Applicants for this Master program share a strong desire out to work in an international environment, and it is the opportunity for multinational companies to recruit multicultural scientists having a good knowledge of international business culture.
