About ECL > Events > 150 years
On February 8-9, 2007, took place in Lyon the French-Japanese Forum LYON TOHOKU, 'Teaming for the future', the occasion for INSA de Lyon, Ecole centrale de Lyon and Tohoku University, which are celebrating their 50th, 150th and 100th anniversary respectively, to share their view of the future. This 'Joint Anniversary' was the place for a series of lectures and workshops dealing with subjects such as: transport, materials science, energy, aerodynamics, acoustics, mechanics, thermics, triblogy etc.

27/02/2007: Ecole centrale de Lyon, INSA de Lyon and Tohoku University (Japan) joining in an international research laboratory project
The meeting was opened on February 8, 2007, in the City of Lyon's town hall, by the Deputy major of Lyon in charge of Universities and Research, Pierre Laréal, in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to France Yutaka Iimura, the Mayor of Lyon Senator Gérard Collomb, the Director of INSA de Lyon Alain Storck, the Director of Ecole centrale de Lyon Patrick Bourgin and the President of Tohoku University Akihisa Inoue.

The opening speeches were devoted to the theme 'The 2020 horizon with Science and Society'. The Vice-president of the European Commission, Commissioner for Transport and former Minister Jacques Barrot gave an intervention about Sustainable mobility and innovation in Europe'

The second part of this first day took place in the Rhône-Alpes Region Council, where professors Patrick Bourgin, Alain Storck, Léo Vincent, Alain Reza Yavari, Albert Prévos and the Renault Foundation were awarded the Honda Kotaro Memorial Prize of the Tohoku University.

The 9th of February, 2007, was devoted to workshops in
Ecole centrale de Lyon and INSA de Lyon, with 4 parallel sessions, Multi-Scale Heat and Fluid Flow', Tribology', Materials Science' and Active Control & Energy', followed by two poster sessions and round tables: International collaboration in Fluid Mechanics, Thermics and Tribology' and International collaboration in Materials Science, Energy and Active Control'.
