The 2006 year graduation ceremony took place on November 25, 2006 at Ecole centrale de Lyon. This event officially launched the celebration of the Centrale Lyon 150th anniversary. Professor Elaine Surick Oran, head of research at the Naval Research Laboratory of Washington, DC, and professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, was awarded the ECL degree of Doctor Honoris Causa. Professor Genevieve Comte-Bellot, researcher at the Acoustic Centre of Centrale Lyon, Officer of the Legion of Honour, corresponding member of the French Academy of Sciences, member of the French Academy of Technologies and associate member of the US National Academy of Engineering, was decorated for services to teaching.
