1857 - 1860 : Founding of Centrale Lyon - the first graduates

1857 : Birth of the Ecole Centrale Lyonnaise pour l'Industrie et le Commerce, set up by Désiré Girardon.

1860 : Graduation for the first 14 students

1860 - 1900 : Growth

1868 : School moved to new premises on Quai Augagneur in Lyon

1887 : Official Chamber of Commerce sponsorship

1901 - 1967 : In the heart of Lyon

1901 : School moved to new premises in Rue Chevreul. Lyon City support
1930 : First woman student
1947 : School transferred to the State
1963 : Common entrance exam with Ecole Centrale de Paris

As of 1967 : Opening onto the world from the Ecully campus

1967 : School moved to its new campus in Ecully, on the outskirts of Lyon
1968 : First arrangement with the Darmstadt School (Germany)
1970 : Name changed to Ecole Centrale de Lyon
1980 : First arrangements with Japan and the US
1990 : Setting up of the Centrale Graduate School
First arrangement with China
1992 : School is designated Public Scientific, Cultural and Professional Establishment 
First arrangement with Central and Eastern European countries
1996
: Setting up of a European universities double-degree network (TIME)
2000 : first agreements with countries of South America (Argentina, Chile, Brazil....)
2002 : Office opens in Shenzhen (China)
2003 : Opening of the Franco-Russian technological innovation transfer center
2005 : Opening of Centrale Beijing (Beihang Sino-French Engineering School)
2007 : 150th anniversary
