Preliminary agreements between the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Central Graduate School to found the Ecole Centrale de Pékin - The Sino-French Beihang Engineering School.

 June 14-15, 2004: A two-day international congress in Centrale Lyon in honour of Professor Jean Mathieu
Scientists from all over the world, especially in the science for engineers field, gather to celebrate this eminent professor's heightieth birthday, a forerunner in the development of relations between industry and research and a great laboratory-builder.


  May 4, 2004: 1st prize for safety and 1st prize for communication
The Razza car, created by the Piston Sport Auto stable, repeated its success at Le Mans in the SIA Challenge. 5 months to build a 100 hp racing car and take part in preliminary trials on the Le Mans circuit: this was the SIA Challenge that the Centrale Lyon students in the Piston Sport Auto stable took up and met. The UTAC Safety prize and the prize for the best communication were the reward for their commitment, energy and teamwork.

 April 9, 2004: Hubert Reeves debating earth-sickness with Centrale Lyon students
Hubert Reeves, the famous astrophysicist and tireless defender of biodiversity, is to be invited by the engineering students of Centrale Lyon at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 20, to a debate on Sustainable Development; as in his latest book (Mal de terre, Les Éditions du Seuil, 2003), he will warn them of the major environmental threats.

 March 23, 2004: Rateria, ambassadors of Brazil, at Centrale Lyon
From March 29 to 31, Centrale Lyon is hosting the "Rateria" percussion group of students from the Sao Paolo University Polytechnic (Brazil)

 March 3, 2004: Nearly 3,000 students expected March 13 and 14 for the Challenge: the biggest national multi-sport competition between engineering grandes écoles
Since 1982, a team of students have been organizing this annual rendezvous for athletic engineering students, male and female, who come to Lyon from all over France to compete in a score of different disciplines.

  January 2004: Centrale Lyon student citizens
Incorporating social policy into economic performance: such is the new concern of business. Centrale Lyon has seen what is at stake, and seeks to raise its students' awareness in the matter. With this aim in view, the School has joined a club of corporations involved in the issue of social responsibility. IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité will help students and staff get to know about corporate social responsibility.
